jQuery Syntax Error Blamed on Search Engine Optimization

I am amazed by how many people are too quick to blame SEO when it comes to bad search results in Google. In a recent blog post, the Encosia blog appears to be blaming search engine optimization for how a web page got a good search engine ranking in Google.

Personally, I do not think that the owner of jQuery.it purposely did any SEO (or knew they were doing it) in order to rank better in Google. I looked at the site’s backlinks. In this case, though, Encosia is wrongly accusing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) as being the culprit here, making it sound as if SEO is a bad thing. SEO is not evil. The SEO I find myself doing on a daily basis involves cleaning up bad code by programmers and web designers who do not follow best practices.
